Hey everyone, and welcome to my blog! Right now, I’m writing from a table by the pool as I enjoy my vacation with my sister. There’s nothing like a few weeks away to rejuvenate and recharge your creative mojo.
July is watercolor month and I’ve spent the past two weeks playing around with this amazing medium. Yes, while on vacation I’ve watched videos (yay, YouTube), played with loose watercolor, detailed color, watercolor brush markers – you name it, I’ve been playing with it. It’s super easy to throw a watercolor set into the suitcase along with some paper. When I’ve been home between trips, I made cards out of my watercolor creations and I’m excited to share some of them with you.

Easy Expressions Sentiment Sets from The Ton
For these cards, I created watercolor backgrounds from which to die cut. The new Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Garden Rose Layering Die Set was perfect for this idea! I used my Artists’ Watercolor 24 Pan Set to create two watercolor backgrounds (one in green, the other in yellows and reds), then die cut the petals and leaves to create this beautiful rose. It made a stunning focal point!
I used Altenew’s Basic Plaid 3D Embossing Folder for the background and finished it off with a sentiment from The Ton. I love my Easy Expressions Sentiment Sets from The Ton. Great sentiments that can be mixed and matched with coordinating dies. You NEED to check them out!!

Spellbinders Yana’s Special Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set
I made enough fun backgrounds for another card, and this time I used the entire die cut for my card. The watercolor gives such beautiful depth and gradient to the petals and leaves! This time I used Altenew’s Checkered Diamond 3D Embossing Folder (one of my FAVS) for the background. Both of the embossing folders I used have been in my stash for a while. I like to shop for background folders from which I can achieve many different looks.
My sentiment is from Spellbinders – Yana’s Special Sentiments. I’ll be honest – I look for sets like this one and the one from The Ton. These are sets where there is a stamp/hot foil plate with a coordinating die. It enables me to make many different sentiments at once which makes it so easy to find what I need for a card.
And there you have it! A short post, but one full of color and creativity. Happy crafting!!!
