Hey everyone! I’m so happy to be back again today with my next card for the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP).
I just finished the All About Layering 4 Course. This 8-lesson course was taught by Lydia Evans and was jam packed with layering techniques and tips. I was so full of ideas after watching the course that it took me a bit to let it all gel in my head.
I love me a card with dimension! So I decided to use several of Lydia’s dimension ideas for my card. I chose to use Altenew’s Dainty Bouquet Layering Stamp Set. This design also comes with a coordinating die set that I used, as well.
This set is so appropriately named! I love the delicate images it produces; the layering gives the flowers beautiful depth and dimension all by itself. But I wanted even more. So I used some texture paste over a lattice stencil I had in my stash from Gina K Designs on a white cardstock panel. This give me a glorious raised effect that I could use in my background.
I stamped my images on
Look at that depth! I layered the lattice panel over a dark pink cardstock I had in my stash for a great pop of pink to match the dark ink in my flowers. Then, a dilemma! I wanted a light pink panel underneath the lattice (white just didn’t do it for me), but I had no light pink to match. Enter ink blending! I used the light pink ink from m y flower and blended it over a white panel until I achieved the look of cardstock. Then, I layered that over the same dark pink cardstock, then put the whole thing on a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ white card base (110lb Neenah cardstock for that). PERFECT!! By the way, I’ll be doing a post on ink blending soon, so keep a look out for it. Finally, I used a sentiment from by Honey Bee Stamps: Inside Kindness that I love. It’s a fabulous set, full of great sentiments for all occasions and it has a coordinating die cut set! I find myself purchasing coordinating die sets more and more, lately. And voila, my finished card. I hope this post will encourage you to play around with your own layering. Cut a few extra image dies on your next card. Experiment with dimension! Thanks for reading today!
